Let me be the first one to burst the bubble – there is NO secret ingredient to creating viral content. If it was that easy – we’d all be celebrities.

There are, however, two lists that you can refer to while creating content, these will give your content a better shot at fame!

1. Content Quality

βœ” The Element of Interest – You need to answer the question β€” β€œwhy would someone watch my content?” Your content must either entertain, educate, or inspire β€” because without value, your content will be scrolled past. You get a two-second window to β€˜hook’ the user β€” make your content impossible to ignore.
βœ” The Element of Appeal – If you’re posting pictures or videos, make sure they’re high-definition. If you’re posting videos, include subtitles for those who watch without sound β€” but make sure the subtitles don’t interfere with the visuals.

βœ” The Element of Engagement – After your content has entertained, educated, or inspired the user, what next? Your content goes viral when users like, comment, or share, but the user shouldn’t feel you’re asking them only because you have to β€” put some earnest effort into it. If the user is convinced to engage, your content will grow.

2. Algorithm Optimization

βœ” Time your Shot – Just like in the game of cricket, timing is critical to play a great shot, it is imperative that you post your content at such a time when your target audience is most likely to be active.

βœ” Hashtags & Keywords – These help social media algorithms understand what your content is about, so it can be offered to the right audience, hence increasing the chance of your content going viral.

βœ” Consistency – Posting regularly signals to the algorithm that you’re active. You don’t need to post 3-4 times a day β€” just maintain a decent frequency of posting so that the algorithm and the users know when to expect your content.

With all this said, I again want to emphasize β€” there is no set formula for making content viral, you’ve got to keep at it!
