A couple of days ago, I was talking to Janvi Rupani ,Social Media Manager at Kreative Machinez.The conversation moved around her finances and financial independence. I asked her, ‘What does financial independence mean to you?’

As a 25 year old young girl she said something very very interesting. She said, “Make enough money, invest it in something that can generate more money.”

I remember such conversations having a very different take back in 2009 when I started Kreative Machinez. Back then, the response of many employees was usually to make enough money so they didn’t have to work their whole lives.

While we like criticizing how a large population of the country doesn’t understand personal finance, we have come a long way over the past decade. So many people (especially those in their 20s) now want to invest in financial instruments. 🚀🚀They are thinking about wealth creation RATHER THAN wealth accumulation.🚀🚀

Granted, there’s still a very, very long way ahead toward financial literacy that impacts the macroeconomy. What an enlightening power-packed session it was with Ex IAS and Current Election Commissioner of West Bengal- Shri Rajiva Sinha. I was fortunate enough to have shared stage with this great man, as the Moderator for the evening along with Rahul Mohata

Leadership Masterclass was organised by Bni Prudent, Kolkata’s largest and 100% green chapter!

Mr. Sinha’s humor, wit, and fashion quotient were no less than a film celebrity and he was sharp and visionary like a business tycoon. Loved his energy and the simplicity with which he explained his point of view on how the government functions, digitization, the changing global landscape, the role of SME’s, and more.

Just a side note- In the middle of his great career as an IAS officer he chose an unconventional path to join UNICEF for 6 long years.

As the Founder of an agency I have never had the appetite to be tough, imposing and reprimanding to my team. I believe, more often than not, you can win all your wars and battles with love, warmth and kindness. I call it hashtag#SRKLeadership 😎

I have always found being kind and encouraging to people yield better results. And, most importantly, it yields better relationships too. You don’t have to be mean to get people to do something. Kind words are more powerful.

P.S. – There will be times when you will have to be tough/harsh/cold. Switch to this mode when you can clearly see that’s the only way out. But otherwise by and large try playing your game with love, warmth and kindness. Trust me you will love it and your team will love it all the more.

I emphasized the art of frequent content sharing, seasoned with strategic planning, as the secret sauce for engagement and growth on social media platform. Also, I underscored the significance of consistent small steps today, which pave the path to substantial success in the future.
